The cover photo shows a group of St. Andrew's travelers on a School trip to South Africa, and a feature article by The Reverend David DeSalvo with photographs from Joe Seiler ’10 and contributions from Mary Wilson ’12 and Joleen Hyde shares further reflections on this journey. The issue also includes the Convocation Address by Diahann Johnson and notes and photographs from a busy fall on campus: sports, arts, extracurriculars, and classroom pursuits. Members of the history department recommend books to read, and new faculty member Nate Crimmins sits down for an interview. The 71 members of the senior class of 2011 answer the question, "What did you do this summer?" Claudia Heath ’11 expands on her experience in an essay at the end of the magazine. Turning to alumni stories, Abigail DeLashmutt ’00 profiles the Turner family (including Oliver ’94 and Christopher ’97) and their business, the Virginia Chutney Company. Athletes Deb Davis ’77, Alex Lynch ’11, Mackenzie Peet ’11, Rob Rasmussen ’12 and Sky Jones ’12 find success off campus. Alumni in the arts release new works: Peter Salett ’87, Adams Wood ’90, Emily Zazulia ’02, Chris Reiger ’95 and Maria Fortiz-Morse ’00. William Penn Daniel ’07 wins an award at UVA. John Reeve ’66 tells the story of the "Noxontown Navy," an alumni boat made up of Ernie Cruikshank ’62, George Shuster ’63, Billy Paul ’64, John Morton ’65, Andy Parrish ’66 and
John Reeve ’66. In Memory honors Benjamin Fowler ’42, Gilbert Van Note ’48, Thomas Stewart-Gordon ’61, Cornelius Arensberg ’69 and former faculty member William Carpenter.
