St. Andrew's School Magazine, 2007 Winter

Sustainability is the theme of this issue. A feature article explores several aspects of sustainability at SAS including the consequences of rapid development in the MOT area, sustainability themes within the School curriculum, student environmental activities including the organic garden, and research partnerships between SAS and the University of Delaware. Sustainable campus initiatives are detailed. Conservationist Tim Abbott '86 shares an essay from his blog. Another article investigates the Research Science minor class. Nigel Furlonge's Chapel talk and Tad Roach's remarks on being a student-athlete are included. We learn about the events of a busy fall on campus, including sports teams, the fall play and the new harp program. Facilities staff member Ron Lindsey and seniors Suk Joon Lee '07 and Sean Gerstley '07 are profiled. Six recent alumni describe their experiences traveling, studying or working in China: Richard DeSalvo '04, Maggie Bryan '04, Kyu Bin Lee '04, Betty Cox '05 and Mark Kavulich '06. Trustee Deval Patrick P'07 is elected Governor of Massachusetts. Artist Hugo Beekman '04 is profiled. Prentice Talmage '44 and Jon Spicer '71 are remembered.
