This issue of the St. Andrew's Magazine focuses on fall events, the renovation of the lower level of Founders' Hall, the purpose of financial aid at St. Andrew's and Bill Crump's '44 gift to endow the annual Crump Physics Lecture.
Alum Bill Crump '44 made a bequest to establish the William A. Crump, Jr. Physics Program Endowment. This gift will annually allow some aspect of physics education to be supported with the advice of the physics department as well as the headmaster. English teachers Will Speers and Bobby Rue traveled to Middleburg, VA to meet author Michael Thompson, one of the country's leading child psychologists.
A very successful fall season of sports as described in the Cardinal Points section of the magazine.
Alum Dwight Sipprelle '76 (the eldest of four brothers that attended SAS), discusses the importance of financial aid to his family and what an important role St. Andrew's played in his academic life.
Director of Admission, Louisa Zendt '78, included an article in this issue titled, "Who's getting into St. Andrew's..."where she describes a typical SAS student candidate and the importance financial aid plays in the admissions process.
Headmaster Tad Roach discusses the implications of renovating the ground floor of Founders' Hall and how grateful the School is to Sally Pingree for her most generous gift. The remarks spoken by architect of this project, Richard Conway Meyer at the ceremony dedicating this newly renovated area can be found here as well. He says: "Let me propose that the Pingree Project is an essay about daylight and the view of Noxontown Pond, for they are what transform the basement into the ground floor of Founders' Hall."
Several pages of Class Notes can be found in this edition. The In Memory section honors Frederic Clark III '41, James Duffy '41, Victor Zelov '42, Paul Fitzpatrick '43, Samuel Van Meter '44, Alexander Baumgartner '56 and Prentice McNeely '65.
