This issue of the St. Andrew's School Magazine marks the beginning of a new era. Not only a new design and format for the magazine but a new Headmaster begins his administration. The first Headmaster's Note was written by new Head Tad Roach. John MacInnes, a charter member of the SAS faculty, writes about the significance of the School's crest. New section UP FRONT, features Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Magazine, Steve Forbes. Steve is the father of recent alum, Moira '97 and was the commencement speaker this past spring. An announcement from the Board of Trustees that there would be no tuition increase for the 1997 - 1998 school year. Trustee news also addresses the excitement of the completion of Phase II Capital Fund. Alumni News focus is on Polly Dolan '85 and her work with CARE in Uganda. "Her duties are primarily to monitor conservation efforts designed to reduce the destruction of natural resources by the inhabitants of the rural areas of the country." Thirty-four year veteran employee, Nancy Whitlock retires from St. Andrew's. Nancy worked in the business office and for the last 21 years in admissions. New members of the faculty are recognized: Louisa Zendt '78 and her husband Harvey, Mai Yee Mok, Ana Ramirez, and Heather Williams '92. Another new section, Cardinal Points highlights all sports teams for the season. In this particular issue, there are updates on the spring teams; baseball, crew, lacrosse and tennis. An announcement of a new website, Hot Ticket. Hot Ticket will include schedules, results, and updates for all teams. A rather large section is devoted to the Girls' Crew and their trip to Henley. Page Rockwell '97 contributes her Henley Journal and Morgan Foster '97 writes an in depth article on the experience. Editor David Scott includes a piece on the boys' trip to Henley as well. An interview with Headmaster Daniel T. Roach with respect to his new role and his wife Elizabeth explains how her role changes along with that of her spouse. Assistant Headmaster Will Speers' chapel talk of his recent trip to South Africa is included along with a few spectacular photos. Many, many photos of Reunion weekend are included reflecting a fantastic time was had by all attendees. The In Memory section memorializes C. Rickert Lewis '40, James Talbutt, Jr. '52 and Leonidas Kaouris '83. Also added to keep you up to date with your classmates, included are many class notes and photos.
