The Noteworthy section features a photo of librarian Shannon Hanover standing beside an oak cabinet filled with a mix of musical CDs donated to the library by Rachel Mandes, sister of the late library director, Chuck Mandes, given in his memory. Career night had alums Ann Rhodes Amos '78, Alec Hoon '70, Ed Hammond '60, Catherine Soles '89, Pier Kooistra '85 and Michael Whalen '84 to share their strategies for success in college and beyond to fifth and sixth formers. Sportsbeat features the winter wrap-up of girls' and boys' basketball teams, swimming, wrestling and highlighting the boys squash team winning their first Mid-Atlantic title. Science teacher Peter McLean writes "Six Billion and Counting". He reports: "With so many people now sharing the planet, we need to do an even better job of resource conservation. Learning to love the outdoors might be the first step." Included are several short stories submitted by long time faculty member Bill Amos. JoAnn Fairchild writes about the senior exhibition, a process all seniors must take part in as part of the English program. Faculty News bids farewell to the following faculty members, Art teacher Peter Brooke, Spanish teacher Richard Matusow, and Biology teacher Lise Schickel. The In Memory section is devoted to Thomas Tucker '44 and Bill Amos remembers art teacher Howard Schroeder. Many class notes and photos also included in this issue.
