Notes
This issue of the magazine opens with Noteworthy. Blurbs about the vestry auction, an update on the school's capital projects, Larry Walker and the school jazz band, fund raising by the Class of 1996 and KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) touring the SAS campus. A sports winter wrap-up includes updates on the girls' and boys' basketball season along with squash and swimming. Trisha McGee '76 reports on a SAS Today Program that she along with 15 other alumni from the years 1970-1977 recently attended. Also included is a report to the Board of Trustees from Headmaster Jon O'Brien on the concern of rising tuition costs. Newly appointed magazine editor, Joann Fairchild, reports on Nan Mein and her teaching of East Asian history. Outgoing editor Donna Speers writes about the many extracurricular activities that captivate the SAS student. Faculty updates that include summer plans as well as those departing. The In Memory section remembers George Brown '37, Lawrence Johnson '39, John Clarke '40, Frank Pilling '40, Daniel Patch '45, George Vest '48 and David Sherwood (son of longtime faculty member Granville Sherwood.) The front and back covers of this issue include scenes from the annual campus Earth Day. Class notes and photos are spread over many pages.
