This issue of the magazine is focused on traveling and foreign language. Chairman of the Modern Language department, Robert Rorke, has written an article on the teaching of modern languages. Alice Ryan chronicles the concert choir's tour of France. The inside cover is a photo of first headmaster Walden Pell and the new park in Chesapeake City, Maryland, The Pell Garden, named for Rev. Pell and his wife Edith. Headmaster's secretary, Mary Loessner, writes a lovely tribute to retiring business manager Norman Thornton. Articles on the newly constructed paddle tennis courts, Washburns move to farmhouse, maintenance mechanic Alvan Smith retiring can all be found in this issue as well as many class notes and alumni news. The In Memorium column bids farewell to Simon Weatherby '58, Rodney Layton '37 and John Barroll '40.
