Commencement Address 2024: Halimah DeLaine Prado ’93 / The Privilege of Failure

Halimah DeLaine Prado ’93, Google's general counselor, addresses the Class of 2024 at commencement. Ms. Prado cites poet Nikki Giovanni as an inspiration with her quote: “A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you’re in and take advantage of it. You still bring to bear all your prior experiences, but you are riding on another level. It’s completely liberating.” Ms. Prado encouraged the graduating class to embrace failure and change, so that they have the means to steer the future the best that they can.
