Emily Pressman reflects upon what sparked her interest in history, and the importance of widening the lens through which we view history. "When the history we choose to remember is shrunken—when we feel we must sit around and wait for the messiah, for the universally recognized great leader to emerge—it shrinks what we imagine is possible, not just in the world, but for ourselves and our role in it."
