Notes
Headmaster Tad Roach gave this talk 2 weeks after the invasion of Iraq by American forces in March 2003. The talk explores the situation in Iraq as reported to the American people by the George W. Bush Administration and by the media. "We will win this war, but we face difficult choices. Already, military experts and commentators have observed that our drive to preserve Iraqi civilian lives may be costing us the lives of coalition troops. As our enemy becomes more ruthless, desperate and murderous, will we, by necessity, follow suit? And if we do use excessive military might to end the war, what will be the challenges as we try to rebuild a city we have destroyed?"
