History teacher Nan Mein tells of a civil rights action taken by her local NAACP group while in college - to open the barbershops to all. During that time she first heard the gospel song "Precious Lord" : "...when I hear the Concert Choir sing those powerful and patient words, I think of the nearly forty years since I first learned “Precious Lord”, and I wonder how long, how much longer it will take until we really come to grips with racism in our nation, until we walk, not in strife and pain, but in the reality of love, mercy, peace and justice."
