Notes
Assistant Headmaster and Spanish teacher Ana Ramirez reflects on the 2012 Commencement Address by Trustee Betsy Cahill who evoked the image of St. Andrew's as “incubator,” a “warm and cozy” environment where “saints” grow—these are not angelical saints, she warns. Instead, they are “people who engage in the daily concerns and ordinary struggles of their time, people who take on the challenges of their world with imagination, with compassion, and with love.” Ana shared her findings after she decided to test Mrs. Cahill’s statements by searching outside the walls of our “incubator” to see what “saints” looked like. She interviewed three “saints,” two alums and one former teacher, and asked them in what ways during their time and experience at St. Andrew’s shaped, informed and developed their leadership in their professional world.
