Notes
Nathan Costa, Academic Dean, shares with us the challenge of being a stutterer. He goes on to say, "Perhaps not unlike alcoholics or cancer survivors, stutterers, even when “cured,” are always in recovery. The effect of the private frustration and the public shame of being unable to express oneself fluently in spoken words is strong and long-lasting, sometimes inspiring us to compensate in other ways and with dogged motivation, at other times simply overwhelming. For many, all it takes is a particular situation or series of words or sounds to be thrust back into a debilitating stammer."
